Mr. Carroll Phillip Knox, 74, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Friday May 17, 2019 at College Pines Nursing Center, following a period of declining health.
Phillip was born on July 28, 1944 in Burke County to the late John Patrick Knox and Minnie Kiser Knox. He joined the U.S. Navy on August 11, 1965 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Chipola (AO-63) in support of Pacific Fleet operations in the South China Sea.. In later years he worked as an appraiser in the real estate business. Phillip enjoyed old cars, guns and knives and was world class Rummy player.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Rector Knox, seven siblings, Geneva Reinhardt, Zelta Rae Arnie, Frank Owen Knox, Bertha May Belle Knox, Jesse James Knox, Virginia Reardon and Rebecca Jane Church, and a brother in-law, Wayne Rector.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Helen Greer of Connelly Springs, three sister in-laws, Ruby Locke and husband David, Carolyn Edmisten and husband Bill, and Della Rector, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
