Mr. Dennis Keith Carter, 64, of Valdese, went home to be with the Lord on Monday August 20, 2018 at his residence.
Dennis was born March 21, 1954 in Burke County to the late Herman Inell Carter and Hazel Louise Hull Carter. He attended United Baptist Church and retired from the shipping department at Drexel Heritage. He enjoyed volunteering at the soup kitchen and at Burke County Friends for Animals.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Walker Carter of the home; two daughters, Christina Franklin and husband Kenny of Hickory, and Regina Bravo-Romero; siblings, Wanda Collingwood, Larry Carter, and Vickie Burleson, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Olivia Franklin, Justin Franklin, Dylan Surbaugh, Kathryn Walker, Juliana Bravo-Walker, Alvaro Bravo-Hernandez, and Lupe Bravo-Hernandez; great grandchildren, Aileen Bravo, Christopher Bravo; and a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a close cousin, Debbie Icard, and aunt and uncle, Don and Janette Hull.
A funeral service will be held 3:00PM Thursday, August 23, 2018 at United Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Mathews officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30PM to 3:00PM at United Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Burke County Friends for Animals, and Burke United Christian Ministries.
