Mr. Elbert Tipton, 76, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his family's residence, following a period of declining health.
Elbert was born on November 15, 1941 in Yancey County to the late Brisco Tipton and Georgia Griffith Tipton. He was retired from the furniture industry, where he worked in the rub room and packaging for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Watson Tipton of the home, one son, James Tipton of Connelly Springs and one daughter, Kimberly Summerow and husband Donnie of Valdese. Also surviving are four brothers, Elmer, Norman, Darrell and Dean Tipton, four sisters, Ruth Martin, Doris Edwards, Wanda Lea Cannon and Helen Cannon, three grandchildren; Jerica Tipton, Emilee and Mylee Summerow, one step grandchild, Andrew Millwood and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:30 P.M. at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Connelly Springs, with Darrell Tipton officiating.
