Mrs. Jewel Ellen Mull Lafferty Clay, 92, of Morganton, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at McCurry Family Care, following a period of declining health.
Jewel was born August 10, 1926, in Burke County, to the late Carze Alexander Mull and Alice Lefevers Mull. She was a member at Southside Baptist Church. She was the proud mother of three sons, Larry Lafferty, John Lafferty and wife Karen, and Tom Lafferty; and there is nothing that she loved more than receiving the red roses they would send to her.
Also surviving is her granddaughter, Jessica Barlow; great-grandchildren, Emilly, Lilly, and Nathan; sisters, Essie Ruth Gillespie (Jean), and Mae Zell Grady (Johnny); brother, Butch Mull and wife Peggy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, with Rev. Marvin Wiley officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care at 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
