Mr. Jonie Robert Carswell, 77, of Hickory, passed away on Thursday August 2, 2018 in Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Carswell was born April 16, 1941 in Burke County, a son of the late Logan and Emma Jane Watts Carswell. He retired from Century Furniture machine shop and enjoyed working on lawnmowers in his metal shop at home. Jonie was a faithful member and Deacon at Church Street Baptist Church of Rhodhiss.
Surviving are his wife, Glenda Sain Carswell of the home, a daughter, Michelle Day and fiance Norman Powell of Hickory, one brother, Tom Carswell of Connelly Springs and two sisters, Georgia Lowman of Connelly Springs and Margaret Cook of Ind. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tony smith and Makayla Day.
Funeral Services for Jonie Robert Carswell will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday August 5, 2018 at Church Street Baptist Church, Rhodhiss with Rev. Steve Coonse officiating. Interment will follow in the Warlick's Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Church Street Baptist Church, Rhodhiss.
