Mrs. Lenora Rogers Raxter, 89, of Kernersville, formerly of Valdese, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Rose Tara Senior Living Memory Care, following a period of declining health due to Alzheimer's.
Lenora was born on April 6, 1929 in Cherokee County to the late Ernest Rogers and Jennie Painter Rogers. She was an active member of Enon Baptist Church and retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jack D. Raxter, a daughter, Frankie King, and all five of her siblings.
Survivors include her three daughters, Colleen FitzGerald and husband Tom of Kernersville, Jackie Shafer of Raleigh and Vanessa Dockery and husband Darryl of Valdese. Also surviving is a son in-law, John King of Connelly Springs, a sister in-law, Winnie Kephart of Morganton, five grandchildren; Kim Truelove, Sherry Kirby(Kregg), Delvin Fox, Emily Stephens(Travis), Whitney Hambrick(Jake), thirteen great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Gary Garner officiating. Interment will follow at the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
