Mr. Marshall Lee "Bud" Powell, 87, of Valdese, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care following a period of declining health.
Marshall was born July 23, 1931, in Burke County, to the late Garlie Powell and Elsie Abee Powell. He was a great husband and father.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Marie Powell Wright; brothers, Willard Powell and Barney Powell; sisters, Louise Miller, Mazie Nichols, Wilma Gooden; and nephew, Danny Lee Powell.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Sarah Winkler Powell; daughter, Susan Powell Pope and husband Bradley; grandchildren, Rodney Rector and wife Alleen, Jody Rector, Heather Wright, and Brooklyn Wright; step-grandchildren, Lacey Charlet and husband Mack, and Dylan Pope and girlfriend Megan; great-grandchildren, Kynzley Rector, Rodney "RJ" Rector, Amelia Rose Hall, Easton Charlet, and Ezra Charlet; and soon-to-be great-grandson, Roczen Pope; and brother-in-law, Nickie Winkler.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
