Mr. Michael Eugen Cook, 63, of Morganton passed away Tuesday October 9, 2018 at his home, following a period of declining health.
Mike was born February 4, 1955 in Burke County, raised by the late Rosa Lee Jordan Cook and J. Cook. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service he was a deputy sheriff for the Burke County Sheriff's Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; was a co-founder of Cripple Construction, The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Mechanized Calvary, Burke County K-9 Search Team, Animal Control, Glen Alpine Fire Department, Burke County Rescue Squad, and Lake James Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Adria Greene Cook of the home; children, Cozette Townsend and husband Phil of Glen Alpine, Jason Cook and fiancé Jackie Nalley of Morganton, and April Cook and fiancé Dustin Burns of the home; grandchildren, Summer, Angelica, Chadisey, Winter, Autumn, Dustin, Landon, Terry, Skyler, Summerlyn, Aponi , Joseph, Savannah, Anna, and Jessica; his mother, Alice Franklin; sisters, Janet Lloyd and husband Bobby, Joyce Perkins and husband Michael, and Jane Benfield and husband Tommy; nephews, Allen "Jake the Snake", Thomas, Michael, Heath, T.J., Julian and Dakota; niece Elizabeth; and special friend T.B. Correll.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
Military Honors will follow the visitation and be presented by the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care at 1721 Enon Rd. Valdese, NC 28690.
