Mr. Robert Wayne Herman, 84, of Hickory, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at his residence, following a period of declining health.
Wayne was born on May 4, 1935 in Burke County, to the late Johnny Monroe Herman and Edna Hudson Herman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and had retired from Corning Cable after 36 years of service. Wayne loved to fish, travel ,and be outdoors, and he loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Buff Herman and one sister, Catherine Herman Brittain.
Survivors include his son, Thomas Herman and wife Renee of Hickory, and daughter, Annamarie Herman Unger and husband Scott of Alpharetta, GA. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Megan Smith and husband Derek, Morgan Herman, Josh Unger and Alex Unger, one great-grandchild, Addison Smith and one sister in-law, Joann Stephens of Normal, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Wilkie's Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Thurman Roe, Rev. Thomas Herman and Rev. Kenneth Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Wilkie's Grove Baptist Church.
