Mrs. Virginia Dare Crawley Pritchard, 88, of the Jamestown Rd. community and more recently Hickory Falls Health & Rehabilitation of Granite Falls, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019
She was the daughter of the late Ivey Crawley and Ora Glasco Crawley, and the widow of Paul Nelson Pritchard, who died April 17, 1993. Virginia was a dedicated lifetime member of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church in Morganton. She was very active in the church serving on the missions committee of the Wesleyan Women International Society and mission trips. Virginia was well known for her craft and sewing skills.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Carrie Smith, Hettie Santymire and Rachel Brittain, and two brothers, Albert Crawley and Bill Crawley.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Doris Brittain and husband Doug, two sons, Carroll Pritchard and wife Patricia, and David Pritchard and wife Janet all of Morganton, and one sister, Louise Toney. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Tisha Fisher and husband Steve, Meredith Searcy and husband Chad, Gina Pritchard, and Blakeley Pritchard; four great-grandsons, Gabriel Searcy, Jacob Searcy, Isaac Searcy and Patch Fisher, step-granddaughter, Jalyn Stanley and husband Mauney; two step-great-grandchildren, Kolt Stanley and Hollyn Stanley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the staff of Hickory Falls Healtcare and Carolina Caring Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving care.
Services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church at 4:00 PM, with Rev. Christopher Uren officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
Memorial contributions may be made to the WWI of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church at 1741 Jamestown Rd, Morganton, NC 28655.
